Mmory vs Apple Voice Memos
Short answer: Use Voice Memos when the recording itself is what matters, such as lectures, interviews or music. Use Mmory when you want to save short thoughts and ask about them later. They do different jobs, and you may want both. Mmory can't read your Voice Memos recordings.

Where Voice Memos is better
- It's already on your iPhone and costs nothing.
- It handles long recordings, and has real audio tools for trimming and replacing sections.
- It syncs through iCloud, so a recording made on your iPhone can be edited on your Mac. Recordings from Apple Watch appear on your other devices too.
- Search takes you to the moment a word was said.
Where Mmory is different
- You ask a question instead of searching for a keyword. “What restaurant did Sarah recommend?” can work even if you've forgotten what you called it.
- The answer shows which memories it came from, so you can check it.
- One app holds spoken and typed memories, plus reminders.
- Each memory is one small thought, so the Library reads as a list of things you said rather than a list of recordings.
Can Mmory search my existing Voice Memos?
No. Mmory can't import audio, so your existing recordings stay in Voice Memos. It helps with what you tell it from now on. If you want to transcribe a library of older recordings, an app that imports audio, such as Whisper Notes, is a better fit.
Where do my recordings go?
In Mmory, recordings stay on your iPhone and are left out of iCloud and computer backups, while transcript text can be part of your own iPhone backup. That also means no copy in the cloud, so losing the phone means losing those recordings. Voice Memos can keep your recordings on all your devices through iCloud if you turn that on, which you may prefer. More in private AI voice notes.
