Privacy Policy

Effective 18 September 2026

The short version.

  • What you record, its transcript, and your memories are stored on your iPhone. Mmory has no server that receives them.
  • Transcription, search and AI answers happen on your iPhone.
  • Nothing you record is used to train AI — by us or by anyone we work with.
  • If you create an account, your email and sign-in details go to our account provider. If you subscribe, Apple and our subscription provider handle the purchase. Neither ever receives your memories.
  • Audio leaves your iPhone only when you choose to share it.
  • No ads. No tracking. No advertising identifier. No analytics. We do not sell personal information.

1. What this covers

This policy covers the Mmory app for iPhone and the website at mmory.xyz. “Mmory”, “we” and “us” mean the operator of the app ().

2. Your memories stay on your iPhone

This is the part of Mmory that matters most, so it comes first.

  • Recordings are stored in the app’s private storage on your iPhone. A finished recording is kept as an .m4a (AAC) audio file. Recordings are excluded from iCloud and computer backups.
  • Transcripts are produced on your iPhone using Apple’s on-device speech recognition, and stored on your iPhone. If on-device recognition is unavailable, Mmory does not fall back to a server; the recording is kept and can be retried.
  • Memories, reminders, saved questions and answers, and the words and names you teach Mmory are stored in a database on your iPhone.
  • Search information — the index and numerical representations Mmory uses to find the right memory — is derived on your iPhone and stored there.
  • AI answers are generated on your iPhone: by Apple’s on-device model where available, otherwise by a model Mmory downloads once and runs locally (“Private AI”), otherwise by quoting your memories directly. Your memories are never sent anywhere to be processed.

Mmory does not upload your recordings, transcripts or memories to a Mmory server — there isn’t one — and that content is not used to train any AI model.

One thing to know about backups. Your transcripts, reminders and taught words are part of the app’s data, so if you have turned on iPhone backups (iCloud or a computer), Apple includes them in your backup, under your Apple Account and your control. That is Apple’s backup of your device, not a Mmory service, and we cannot see it. Original audio recordings are excluded from backups.

3. When content leaves your iPhone — only because you chose to

  • Copy places a memory’s text on the iOS clipboard.
  • Share Audio hands the recording stored on your iPhone to the iOS share sheet, and you pick the destination (Messages, Mail, Files, AirDrop and so on). Mmory does not upload it anywhere first. What happens next is governed by the app or service you chose.

4. Accounts (optional)

You can use Mmory without an account. If you create one, authentication is provided by Clerk, which processes:

  • your email address, and a name if your sign-in provider supplies one;
  • if you use Sign in with Apple or Google: the identity token and account identifier from that provider (with Apple you may hide your real email address);
  • one-time codes sent to your email if you sign in that way;
  • session and device information needed to keep you signed in and protect the account, such as IP address, device type and timestamps.

Your sign-in session is stored in your iPhone’s Keychain. Account information is not stored only on your device — it is held by Clerk on our behalf. Clerk never receives your recordings, transcripts or memories.

5. Purchases (optional)

Mmory Pro is sold through Apple’s App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never see your card details. We use RevenueCat to know whether a subscription is active. RevenueCat receives:

  • purchase and subscription information from Apple (product, transaction and renewal status);
  • an app user identifier — a random anonymous ID, or your Mmory account ID once you sign in, so that your subscription follows your account. We do not use your email address as this identifier;
  • basic technical information sent with any request, such as app version, iOS version, locale and IP address.

We have switched off RevenueCat’s collection of device advertising/vendor identifiers and its diagnostics. RevenueCat never receives your recordings, transcripts or memories.

Mmory also keeps a small counter on your iPhone — how many audio memories you have saved this month and in total — to apply the free plan’s limit. It stays on your iPhone.

6. Private AI download

After you install Mmory, it downloads the files for its on-device AI model once, from Hugging Face. Like any download, this exposes ordinary request information (such as your IP address) to that host. It sends none of your content: the model is downloaded to your iPhone and runs there. Mmory pauses this download while Low Data Mode is on.

7. This website

mmory.xyz is hosted by Vercel, and its domain name service is provided by Namecheap. As with any website, the hosting infrastructure processes ordinary technical information when you visit — IP address, browser and device type, the page requested and the time — for delivery, security and reliability. The site uses no cookies, no analytics and no advertising or tracking scripts.

8. Removing Sign in with Apple access when you delete your account

If you signed in with Apple and delete your account, Mmory asks Apple to revoke the app’s access to your Apple Account. To do that securely, the app sends a single-use authorization code from Apple, together with proof that you are signed in, to a small function on our website’s hosting (Vercel), which exchanges it with Apple and immediately requests revocation. The code and the resulting Apple token are used once and are not stored or written to logs.

9. What we do not do

  • No advertising, and no advertising identifier (IDFA).
  • No behavioural tracking, across apps or websites.
  • No analytics or crash-reporting services.
  • No sale or sharing of personal information or memory content.
  • No use of your recordings, transcripts or memories to train AI.

11. Your controls

  • Delete one memory — press and hold a memory, or use the ••• menu inside it, then Delete.
  • Delete several — press and hold a memory, choose Select, pick the memories, then Delete.
  • Delete everything — Settings → Privacy & Data → Delete All Memories.

Deleting a memory removes it for real: its record (transcript, reminder, search information and any saved answer), its audio file, and any pending notification. It is not hidden or archived. Deleting the app removes all of Mmory’s data from your iPhone.

  • Delete your account — Settings → Account → Delete account. This permanently deletes your Mmory account with our account provider and signs you out. See also Deleting your account and data.

These are separate things. Deleting your account does not delete the memories on your iPhone, because they were never part of your account. Deleting memories does not delete your account. And deleting your account does not cancel a Mmory Pro subscription — subscriptions are billed by Apple and must be cancelled in your Apple Account settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal information we hold about you — in practice, your account information. Contact us and we will help.

12. How long information is kept

  • Memories and recordings: on your iPhone until you delete them or the app.
  • A recording that Mmory has confirmed contains only silence is removed the next time Mmory opens. If it may contain speech, it is kept so you can retry.
  • Account information: until you delete your account.
  • Purchase records: as required by Apple and by tax and accounting law.
  • Website request logs: for the limited period our hosting provider retains them.

13. Security

Keeping your memories on your device is the main protection: they benefit from your iPhone’s own encryption and passcode. Sign-in sessions are kept in the Keychain and are not shared with Mmory’s widget. Connections to our providers use TLS. No system is perfectly secure, and the security of your iPhone and Apple Account is in your hands.

14. International processing

Our providers may process account, purchase and website information in the United States and other countries. Your memory content is not part of this, because it does not leave your iPhone.

15. Children

Mmory is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

16. Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date above, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
